7th April 2009 – Since returning from the United Arab Emirates , the Swift team has been preparing for the start of the UK season.
G-RIOT is near full certification and G-TWST has been lovingly cleaned to remove all traces of desert sand.
The team has kept up training flights throughout the winter, using the MDM1 Fox whilst the Swift was away. Our agenda is to stretch what is possible and determine what manoeuvres are safe, repeatable and reliable.
We are also training new pilots, Mike Newman is now performing the glider “roll-on-tow” manoeuvre, and Guy Westgate will start training in the Twister soon for a Twister Duo in 2010.
Garmin and Dynon have helped provide equipment to make our flights safer and reduce workload. The Twisters and Pawnee are newly equipped with the latest Garmin 495 GPS colour moving map. The new Twister, G-RIOT already has a Dynon EFIS fit, but eventually G-TWST will follow, with an engine upgrade from the Jabaru to the UL 260i.
