12th July 2009 – The 12th July saw Twister Aerobatics set out for the Breighon 20th Anniversary Fly-in in Yorkshire. Poor weather across the south of England led to an interesting transit to Yorkshire, but the weather soon improved north of East Midlands Airport.
Breighton is home to Tony “Taff” Smith and his Real Aeroplane Company. Taff’s collection includes several important historic airframes including Alex Henshaw’s Mew Gull G-AEXF and the only surviving Arrow Active in the world. Taff started his collection to have a club of like-minded pilots with very interesting aircraft. Breighton is undoubtely one of the most interesting and fun places to flying in the UK. Peter Wells performed his new solo display in G-TWST which starts immediately from take-off.
During the transit back to the south of England, Peter flew into RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire to meet Flt Lt Andy Preece, the 2007/2008 Tutor pilot. Andy took a spin in G-TWST to familiarise himself and evaluate the Twister prior to being involved with a new duo display and providing formation training.
